The MIAM Percussion Lab is a home for creative-minded percussionists to seek out new pathways for musical development. Performance students who have access to this lab are active performers in the MIAM Percussion Ensemble, MIAM Modern Music Ensemble, and the Improvisation Ensemble. Performance students who are percussionists, and MIAM students who are interested in percussion are encouraged to broaden their horizons and develop skill sets such as composing, working with electronics, research traditional styles of world percussion, and pursue their own stylistic and creative goals by spending time in the Lab. The Percussion Lab has a large inventory of instruments for use by MIAM students for concerts, recitals, and recordings.
