Berna Anıl

Berna Anıl was born in 1983 in Istanbul. She earned her first Bachelor’s degree summa cum laude from Sakarya University Political Science and International Relations department. She won the right to study in Istanbul University State Conservatory Stage Arts Faculty Musical Theater department in first place. She started her acting career in Istanbul City State Theater in her second year in the Conservatory while getting her voice education from Lynn Trepel Çağlar. She earned her first Master’s degree from Guildhall School of Music & Drama Musical Theater and Advanced Acting department in London, where she was compensated for the full of her study by the UK Government. During her time in London, she had the chance to work with Morgon Gordon, Martin Wimpress, Vernon Thampson, and Victoria Barbé as part of her education in voice, acting, and dance. She learned Alexander technique from Kemal Thapen. Furthermore, she was accepted with fellowship to London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA) for her advanced acting studies, and worked with Petina Hapgood for six months. She earned her second Master’s degree summa cum laude from Istanbul Technical University MIAM Center for Advanced Studies in Music (ITU MIAM) with Classical Voice as her concentration. She has recently finished her course work towards her PhD degree, she is studying voice with Lynn Trepel Çağlar in the same school, and she also works as a research assistant in ITU MIAM. Since 2010, Anıl and the pianist K. Batu Ekmekçi have been performing various recitals and concerts together. She has also performed in concerts with varying styles including European Opera, European Art Music, Turkish Classical Music, Turkish Folk Music, and Argentine Tango in countries such as Turkey and Holland.
