Mezzo Soprano Lynn Trepel Çağlar was born in Wisconsin, U.S.A. She received a masters degree in opera and voice from Northwestern University in Chicago , Illinois. After receiving an International Rotary Scholarship she continued her vocal studies with Prof. Irmgard Hartmann at the “Berlin Hochschule der Kunste” where she graduated with highest honors.
She began her professional career working for five years in Germany at the “Kammer Oper Berlin”, Oper Theater Hagen”,”Deutsche Oper Berlin”,and “Darmstadt Staatstheater”. Since 1984 she has been a soloist at the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet. She has performed more than 30 leading roles in the operas such as Carmen, Don Carlos, Andriana Lecouvreur, L’Italiana in Algeri , Maometto Secondo, Hansel und Gretel, The Merry Wives of Windsor, Cosi Fan Tutte, Le Nozze di Figaro, Samson et Dalila, Les Contes D’Hoffmann, Prince Igor, Pique Dame, Jenufa and Elektra.
She has sung many lieder concerts and oratorios such as Handel’s Messiah, the Mozart and Verdi Requiem, Rossini’s and Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Bach’s B Minor Mass and Matthaus Passion, Mendelssohn’s Elias, Mahler’s 8th Symphony, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony and the Brahms Alto Rhapsody.
She has sung concerts with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, Milwaukee, Tulsa, and Berlin Symphony Orchestras, the Berlin Philharmonie Orchestra, and all symphony orchestras in Turkey She taught voice at the Mimar Sinan U. Conservatory of Music between 1994 and 1998 and since 2000 she also has been teaching voice at Istanbul State University Conservatory of Music. She also continues as soloist at the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet.
