Pieter Snapper has taught composition and sound engineering at MIAM since its inception in 1999. Previously he served on the faculties of the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music and Grand Valley State University. His music has been played in 23 countries, and has garnered awards from BMI, ASCAP, the Union League, and the Fromm Foundation at Harvard University. His compositions have been performed by KammarensembleN Stockholm, Klangforum Wien, and eighth blackbird, among others. His monodrama "Song of Philomel" was performed by Hezarfen Ensemble in collaboration with computer music pioneer Miller Puckette. Snapper is also an award-winning sound engineer and producer, and was instrumental in establishing both the MIAM and Babajim Studios in Istanbul.
